s3fs-init

Init utility for AWS S3 file system package s3fs

Install and use

npm install --save s3fs-init

List contents of a given folder.

const {makeS3fs, getPathInBucket} = require('s3fs-init')
const fullPath = 's3://foo/bar'
const fs = makeS3fs(fullPath)
const path = getPathInBucket(fullPath) // 'foo/bar'
fs.listContents(path, '/')
  .then(list => ...)

Use default bucket name (passed via environment variable BUCKET_NAME or its aliases, see src/get-s3fs.js)

const {makeS3fs} = require('s3fs-init')
const path = 'foo/bar'
const fs = makeS3fs()
fs.listContents(path, '/')
  .then(list => ...)

Or pass the bucket name explicitly

const {makeS3fs} = require('s3fs-init')
const bucket = 'my-test'
const fs = makeS3fs(bucket)

Path join

Sometimes when using path.join to form s3 paths, we get single forward slash at the beginning. This module supports them, thus

const {isS3FullPath, getPathInBucket, getBucketName} = require('s3fs-init')
isS3FullPath('s3://foo/bar') === isS3FullPath('s3:/foo/bar')
getPathInBucket('s3://foo/bar') === getPathInBucket('s3:/foo/bar') === 'bar'
getBucketName('s3://foo/bar') === getBucketName('s3:/foo/bar') === 'foo'
