zendesk-populator

Description

Zendesk Populator has two components:

  • A front-end for adding users to Zendesk
  • A simple command line tool to populate Zendesk organizations and users from a CSV file.

Front-End

Installation & Usage

  1. Run bundler.

     $ bundle install
    
  2. Create config.yml and database.yml from the example files. Update them you required configuration.

  3. Run database migration.

     $ rake db:migrate
    
  4. Rackup the application.

  5. You can now enter new users. You must supply the company name, full name and email address.

  6. Click "Add new user" and the new user will be created.

  7. You can also browse to http://application/backstage to see the currently included users and download them as a CSV file. This section is password protected using the username and password defined in the config.yml file.

Installation & Usage

  1. Run bundler

  2. Update the zendesk_site, zendesk_user and zendesk_password variables in the config.yml file.

  3. Create a data file containing the accounts to be loaded in the form:

    org_name,user_name,email_address
    
  4. Run the zdpop command with the -d or --data-file command line option to specify the location of the data file.

    $ zdpop -d newaccounts.csv
